DAY 3

Barcelona – Visit the El Penedès wine country

Can you imagine a better day to immerse yourself in the local traditions than hiking through the wine country? After meeting your guide at the hotel, you will start your scenic drive to the El Penedès. It is one of the oldest wine-making regions in Europe, world-famous for producing wines of exceptional quality, especially cava (sparkling wine). Once you arrive, your guide will explain the daily activities and you will start your hike between the vineyards of this beautiful Mediterranean countryside. The path follows a landscape dotted with farmhouses and wineries surrounded by lush greenery and vines. As you walk you will learn about the grape varieties of the area, the traditions, and the history of the region. During your breaks, you will have the opportunity to sample typical Catalan snacks while you soak up the beautiful views of the iconic mountain of Montserrat. The hiking route will lead you to a small family-owned organic winery where you will enjoy a guided visit to the cellar and will learn about their history and the wine & Cava elaboration process. After the visit, you taste the wines from their range of white, red, and sparkling wines paired with delectable local snacks.

At the end of your walking tour through the old quarter, make sure to visit the impressive Royal Palace, the former residence of the Spanish Kings. The palace is adorned with the royal family's exquisite collection of tapestries, porcelain, antique clocks, armor, and artworks. After you arrive, your expert local guide will take you to explore Cordoba, a city with impressive cultural and monumental patrimony. Not many places in the world can say they have been the capital of Hispania Ulterior (Further Spain) under the Roman Empire and the capital of the Umayyad Caliphate. The UNESCO organization recognized the universal importance of Cordoba's historic legacy and extended the title of World Heritage Site not only to the Mosque-Cathedral but also to all the streets and buildings surrounding it. The structure of this Mosque-Cathedral is regarded as one of the most accomplished monuments of Moorish architecture. It was originally a church built by the Visigoths and it has been a witness and victim of historical fights between Muslims and Christians since 711 when the Muslims first conquered Spain.

Hello Marina,

Our honeymoon in Spain was perfectly set up from the moment we landed in Barcelona to the day we left from Seville.

We really want to thank Mina for planning this amazing once in a lifetime experience. Her hotel recommendations were all on point, meeting each and every little request. My husband’s aunt had suggested we visit Spain for our honeymoon, and honestly, we were both quite skeptical, especially after finding Travelive through a google search.

I cannot express enough how amazing this company is. We were even able to contact, I think her name was Danae, during our trip, when we needed little fixes or upgrades.

We will be in touch with Mina for our next trip to Egypt.
